The struggle with many a rigid Logooli cultural practices

The Logooli community is one of the deeply cultured societies – with near everything supposed to have been done as per custom – to allow another custom to follow. One example is that for a mature man (with a child or more) to be buried, there must be a house structure at home. Another is that a boy must be circumcised and nursed in father land. If maternal family decides to, the boy will have a hard time reconnecting with father people - a dent on his masculinity. There were two children who got burnt to death in a house in Nairobi. The single mother had left for night work. Elders were told that one of the children was Logooli. The other, the woman had sired with someone else. The Logooli family wanted to burry their little one and long discussed the do’s and don’ts. Of a man who died childless and the grave was placed as if he had died as a man with children. It should have been dug on the sides, the grave. A real thorn should have been thrust in his buttocks, his name go...

WHEN BOREDOM SETS IN

How does one write in a diary to express a boring day? What made it be termed so?
There are three types of boredom as per my notes all of which involve problems of engagement of attention. These include times when we are prevented from engaging in wanted activity, when we are forced to engage in unwanted activity, or when we are simply unable for no apparent reason to maintain engagement in any activity or spectacle.

A day is boring when the planned activities are not occurring in succession to please. It starts when meetings planned are failed, when friends who were to attend a meeting show up late, when the key speaker in an event takes long to arrive, when pleasures take the role of responsibilities, when activities don’t satisfy expectations. In short, it is when time is felt wasted. It is not due to lack of employment or tiredness.

A plan for the day does not involve movies in the morning, free time in the mid-morning, a buffet at noon, leisure at afternoon nor a party in the evening. When you find yourself engaging in the activities that are more of pleasure to the flesh, know that the result would be boredom. The body does not need unregulated pleasures.
Dreams and commitment to pursue highly help in assisting a person maintain a daily struggle to keep them real. It happens that one is able to plan for an activity in the day that would rather lead to some satisfaction based on the greater vision. The loss of hope and the habit to procrastinate in wait for unbecoming solution only boils dissatisfaction and lose of morale.

A bored person is an idle one. He is prone to all evils. Talk of a bored teacher who may harshly punishes a student. A doctor who would fail to turn up to hospital to assist patients. A bored social; worker would fail to attend to needy situations. some may satisfy their boredom in deviating practices like drug abuse. A bored person is a disgrace to own self and others.

A bored youth who is sexually active would least resist the flesh desires. It’s been a social problem among slum dwellers where housewives do not do more than gossiping. Drivers who get inactive at the steering wheel in many instances lead their automobiles into ditches. Who would want to witness the actions of a bored man? Workplace boredom would see a non-productive person.

Common passive ways to avoid boredom is to sleep or engage in day dreams. One may opt to engage in a hobby that is active.  Doing exercise that would ease the body and increase blood flow would help one avoid passivity. Let not boredom pick you up for life loses meaning then.
