Luanda Reggae Defenders - what is your long term agenda?

Luanda Reggae Defenders is a now a popular movement with roots in Vihiga and border Siaya and Kakamega counties Attention is brought to the manner and conduct the movement has gained fame and followers, mainly the Youths. The movement capitalizes on funerals. With a poor culture of putting the dead to rest, the Reggae Defenders have taken it by storm and rebranded the infamous ‘Disco Matanga’ – disco at funeral. They have this huge old school sound system that is over buzzing to no clear reggae song - that they hire a pickup to carry - and it has a young DJ mainly standing there than mixing anything. Often, against the rules, the casket is grabbed from a hearse vehicle and tied to a motorbike. There it will be swayed and jerk breaked between other motorbikes on the narrow roads. That, is, how a fellow soldier, often a young dead, is mourned. ...

Hello, what of subscriptions?

-‬: Treasurer any update on money...we need to renew our subscription  soon

Lung'afa: Hello Alice, allow me to answer you and also the treasurer should speak.

Subscriptions and such payments are good and also not good (in book keeping and keeping members active).

During the last AGM we did agree to Dad Kereda's  proposition that we do not waste energy following people to subscribe and resubscribe.

That we agreed our activities will be project based. Whereby a project is proposed, Saniagas commit to it and count it done. There and thence.

That is what we have been practicing of late.

But the constitution requires registration and subscriptions, something we have to relook at. It was 500 per head for Membership to Saniaga CBO which is renewed yearly and only 5,000/- for life membership of ten years. We have 27 registered members but of this year only 5 renewed membership.

And it is Dad Ndanyi's (chairperson) proposition that we have each of us paying only 1,000/- (in line with Dad Kereda's view) and we would need no more subscriptions. If you have paid 500/- you only need to add 500/- and you bonafied member. This would come as a by-law to scratch off the constitutional mode of subscriptions.

- With Thanks

-‬: Thank you brother for the update.Joined recently but have /had no idea what is happening.I asked but never got one to enlighten me. I knew  the project was we promote each other and the on going is buying  T-shirt with saniaga logo.

Lung'afa: T-shirts move is not a person's project. It is aimed at getting money to capacitate our library at Wangulu.

-‬: Morning everyone. Am happy I have started getting information that I did not  know.  Thank you so much brother.
