The struggle with many a rigid Logooli cultural practices

The Logooli community is one of the deeply cultured societies – with near everything supposed to have been done as per custom – to allow another custom to follow. One example is that for a mature man (with a child or more) to be buried, there must be a house structure at home. Another is that a boy must be circumcised and nursed in father land. If maternal family decides to, the boy will have a hard time reconnecting with father people - a dent on his masculinity. There were two children who got burnt to death in a house in Nairobi. The single mother had left for night work. Elders were told that one of the children was Logooli. The other, the woman had sired with someone else. The Logooli family wanted to burry their little one and long discussed the do’s and don’ts. Of a man who died childless and the grave was placed as if he had died as a man with children. It should have been dug on the sides, the grave. A real thorn should have been thrust in his buttocks, his name go...

In my grandmother's tale of zinzagayaga...

Mudengani Kisia: These are the zinzagayaga from my grandmother's tells. They resemble luquards that the monkeys like, but national geography guys call them the fig, maybe it's the red variety of the loquat.

Harold Ndanyi: Zinzagayaga are round green and bitter in taste. Mabarabandi is elongated in shape but resembles Zinzagayaga in appearance.
Zinyangareri resembles Mizambalau in appearance, differing in texture.. Mizambalau are smooth while Zinyangareri are rough

Mudengani Kisia: In the tell of zinzagayaga my grandma who died about 1978 would quote amanani having thrown them into fire and the fire exploding like a bomb, to the amusement of the young girl who had gone fire fetching they break free from the amanani, whose leader had taken his favourite  kwirungu, so that the favourite was a clever who had carried with her zinzagayaga Irungu. She finally frees the rest of the girls from their unprepared ordeal as all the amanani run away from zinzagayaga fire! 😂

Harold Ndanyi: 😂😂😂 That story of amanani and a clever girl or boy who would have a deformity and is not liked by the others

Harold Ndanyi: Nice photo of Zinyangareri... Zyakwenga

Mudengani Kisia: True @⁨Lindah Muhadia⁩, which are the zinzagayaga? The ones which when you throw into the fire, they explode

Lindah Muhadia: This theory I don't know

Mudengani Kisia: Oh!  Those the ones my Grammy did refer to. My grandma from my father's side, she died before I was born but my dad preserved her taped oral tells. They are interesting, she was from gaigedi, she was well known for her oral tells 😇  Many haven't heard about it coz ni MA dot con tu 😊

Harold Ndanyi: Or those who didn't sit with the elderly for stories. It revolved around dropping the Zinzagayaga in fire or boiling oil in which they were to be dipped or boiling water then scatters the Manani.
Another one was Fetching water from Kifuri... The clever boy had kiguku but woke uo up at night to tell the others to run away.

Mudengani Kisia: There you got it now, in my Grammy's tells, there's another clever girl whose name was anakaguku, as manani are preparing to eat the girls, anakaguku tells amanani to go fetch water using ivihinda,  so that as amanani are busy filling ivihinda in vain, tells the girls to leave 😂. I never understood the idioms until I became mature enough

Lung'afa: @⁨Lindah Muhadia⁩, we also had vigoyagoyo. Can we get a clear pic?

Neccy Flossy: Never heard of such a fruit or plant. Koyoya is to be dumb isn't

Mudengani Kisia: @⁨Lung'afa⁩ I gave you one of my grandmas tells, you ignored, now you gonna get them from You tube at a price for the kids 😊.They are many. I can't just float them.

Lung'afa: Forbid. How did I ignore? Am I not the one who pushed we get the sacred document from Kakamega? Please forward  over any resourceful material. And if I ever behave like ignoring again throw dust in my eyes.

Brian Sasiah: Lungafu, awa wenya uviti kukinyi that's not Maragoli yawa.

Lung'afa: Mnya, shie. Inzi mboraa madunda gu kwarizaa mu kivanda wa Keremi ekotenyaa. Gari manyingi. Gandi garaa kari ku rutavati (chepkomoni). Gangoti.

 Yivi ovore gu wamanya mea.

Neccy Flossy: Waaaaw lugha gonganaaa😜😜😜😜
