The struggle with many a rigid Logooli cultural practices

The Logooli community is one of the deeply cultured societies – with near everything supposed to have been done as per custom – to allow another custom to follow. One example is that for a mature man (with a child or more) to be buried, there must be a house structure at home. Another is that a boy must be circumcised and nursed in father land. If maternal family decides to, the boy will have a hard time reconnecting with father people - a dent on his masculinity. There were two children who got burnt to death in a house in Nairobi. The single mother had left for night work. Elders were told that one of the children was Logooli. The other, the woman had sired with someone else. The Logooli family wanted to burry their little one and long discussed the do’s and don’ts. Of a man who died childless and the grave was placed as if he had died as a man with children. It should have been dug on the sides, the grave. A real thorn should have been thrust in his buttocks, his name go...

15 dark days! If you believe all you read, you better not read at all.

It is amazing that instead of oral stories we find ourselves engaging in rather ‘oral threats’ about things that keep us busy wandering. Sure we do not lack words and imaginations. If I said what I dreamt yester night about the sky and stars some of us will be devastated. That does not make it true- though it was truly happening in the dream and I swear by the grave of my grandfather that it is true.

Owls hooting

About the 15 dark days, not the first ‘apocalypse’ expected since human minds became apocalyptic conscious is one of the may-come-true stories. There is a you tube clip that starts the show with such a mournful Arabic sound like the one I heard during flash floods in coastal Arabic. It is to the extent of a dirge! There is an indication of desperateness in the composer if not to make his likings and sites receive a billion views.

Water under a log bridge

For Earth to be affected by Venus and Jupiter is something I find badly stage-managed. Jupiter is around 438.8 million miles from the sun, Venus 67.27 and Earth 92.96 in equal measurements. Around the sun, Jupiter covers a distance of 11.86 Earth years. NASA writes that once in every 398.9 days Earth and Jupiter catches up. Unlike the expected repercussions from it, the planets were explained by Johannes Keppler to move in elliptical paths round the sun. Between Venus and Earth are 6.5 astronomical units. (By the way, one astronomical unit = the mean sun/Earth distance (approximately 150 million kilometers or 93 million miles). They like swing around as they move. That is why the expected gaseous heating from Hydrogenised Jupiter is a false happening. It is also why planets don’t have exact  distance measures from the Sun. At points in time, away from polluted city skies, planets can be observed in the sky!

From the other planets, microbes see a shiny star (Earth)- due to our clouds and snowy Antarctic’s.
Reading from Earthsky.com, On July 18 2015, the moon, Venus and Jupiter were seen in the sky with a difference degree of four from the Earth. Nothing disastrous was anticipated! With no predictions of the planets coming on check again soon why expect it in November 2015? It is true that Venus and Jupiter oftenly come into check because Venus has a smaller radius round the sun making the 1M long happening a lie. In a one Earth year there are several checks! This can’t be the first they coming too close.

Remembering that the sun is not the only source of light in the universe but the nearest star, we can only take a night to adapt to the ‘new’ light.

To get psyched up in threats and rumours is what the faulty media does best. So what if the world ends? The advantage is to use that moment to be knowledged about information materials that spring up- it is motivating to read what is trending. There are no better stories as ones involve the space (what used to be the heaven). And as usual, if you believe anything you read, you better not read at all.
