Are we overpopulated? Yes, No.
Let us see. Before I watched a few clips on You Tube and read articles from
waitbutwhy.com, my point was vaguely ‘we are many’.
To say we are many intrigues a moral
dilemma in me. If I raise such a topic before mom and dad, I won’t like it. It
is questioning my existence wrongly. I am happy to be around! Once I said
something similar to it and the response was, God is the one who gives life. It
sounds primitive for it is a man in his lust that randomly sows life. In his
activities of conquering and threats, lives are lost too. No God please.
Overpopulation defined as inability
of the natural environment to provide for the needs of a population easily fits
the current world. Unless the supply chain is local (village), among the foods
you took today are ‘pumped’ with chemicals and two days or more from the
market. There was also fear that you could not have found the seller present or
the price same. We don’t trust tap water, rain water or open foods. We are more
likely to fight for food too.
7.3 billion people in a world
that could habitably accommodate 400 million people is a choice of greed. We
may say that early child mortality and low life expectancy resulted to ‘insurance
siring’ or after 11 billion heads the population will be constant after
two-child maximum hence a world that knows where it is headed. It is false to
think that of the future because a few will read this and think about it, many
care not and I may be the only one among other few stubborn readers seeing the
problem.
Having grown in difficult systems
and experiences one would want to spare the agony of siring a baby to grow through
the same. Most of children from large families with least offered care grow up
to prefer small families. Instead of being married at 17, I can wait till 40 to
marry. There is no hurry to reproduce though pleasure may be a necessity. This
should not confuse us since time people never had poor folk. But why should I
be the poor in slums or rural?
Not sure whether it is of
advantage that we are many (Every 10 minutes four children are born in the
world), there are reasons that I’d take with a Mh! The inventions, technology
and discovery would be done by whom if we regulated wombs from the beginning?
Then I may ask, those who aren’t born, the sperms that go wasted, explain that.
The world may be lonely and challenging if we lacked some type of people as it
is irritating and unpeaceful with some heads around.
In his expression to the matter,
Luther King said that we should all be consciously set to solve the
overpopulation phenomena as floods and measles descended on us then. Is going
to Mars the solution? What if we fill Mars to Pluto? And why do we to expand
and forth when Elephants are reducing and Sahara desert expanding? How selfish
we are. We are domineering, thinking that our God gave us the reproducing
blessing and harshly destroying ecologies that trees, fish and monkeys lived
happily before us. To build on mountains, over rivers and in space in desire to
explore curiosity and expand brings a new problem to the table.
Solution? No solution. Are you
thinking or reproducing? China introduced a one-child policy and they feared
lack of labour to support the economy come the legislators’ olden days. To have
less of next generation sounds a big burden to them to feed the previous. Gas
chambers? No. More of age friendly services, machines and homes. This problem
has brought the world to the inhuman shame of supplying drinking water with
anti-fertility chemicals. Can’t man, in his self-declared reason be responsible
for the dispersal of his seeds?
Innocent children are presently caught up in
ISIS cleanup process. War. What if the 6 million Jews lived? All in the fight
for resources. What still causes raids in the primitive African villages is the
lack- or probably human fight factor. Children go to bed hungry. And religion
keeps us busy that what happens much is the result of later days- a population
deviation.
Sadly that in the article my
points are pessimistic to overpopulation, I am not hateful that you and I
exist. At least we can survive. But the mention of reproducing knots the
bowels. And to see it heavily occurring among the poor and ignorant folk is an
insult. For to live because others do, to perform for they do and to avoid for
it will take care of itself is low below emancipation.
