Chahilu’s Funeral; Logooli Culture in action

Guuga Chahilu was respectfully laid to rest at his home on Saturday 14th June 2025. Having passed on at Mbale Referral Hospital on 31st May 2025, the two weeks leading to his burial were full of cultural discussions. His passing on is a great loss to the Logooli Language and Culture Family as he was a custodian and informer of Luhya Indigenous Knowledge. An observation as to how the funeral proceeded leads us to revist Logooli traditions amidst modern realities.  One, having left the house alive and now coming back in state, Chahilu was to be taken inside the house, placed muihiilu for a moment and then officially taken out in wait for earth burial. His casket was able to enter the doors. There are cases where the dead would find it difficult to be taken in and then out due to an oversized casket or thin door. A man or a lady of his house who died out of home has to be taken in the house for a last ritual mark. But if the person had died inside, he or she would not be brought bac...

Hon. Gladys Analo and Lumadi Jenyeka, thank you for visiting S-CBO Library.

Lung'afa: Thank You @⁨Analo Gladys⁩, MCA Busali Ward for paying S-CBO Library a visit and donating books.

It is humbling to see the Saniaga course attracting more people on board and together we shall sooner make a great impact in the community.

It is to her advise that Saniaga CBO makes a grand resource centre where there is room to more activities and many  beneficiaries. It is in order because we expect more learners coming to benefit from the library services this April holidays.

We have more rooms beside the library and we have Wangulu Friends old church to work on. We only need a strategic mind to move forward. I also think it were much better to strongly empower Wangulu and environs before we ever scaled up.

For instance, we need a Youth Centre just at the library. For things like indoor games as Table Tennis, Scrabble, Chess, Darts etc on top of Saniaga FC.

On this we aim to reach out to partners who will take advantage of our will and willingness to grow and people like @⁨Analo Gladys⁩ should help us there.

- With Thanks.

Lung'afa: @⁨Bensolo Ndanyi⁩ and @⁨Doc!⁩ .... You guys are cutting short @⁨Lumadi Jenyeka⁩'s good words above.

We stick to group goals please.  Muyanza! You can inbox each other too. 😊😊

@⁨Lumadi Jenyeka⁩ thank you for the visit. At least now we can take our visitors around...that they can see tangible saniaga efforts!! As @⁨Baba Ndanyi⁩ said, we shall end up achieving what we had not yet thought of!

We only have a few needs at the Youths desk. We are looking for:-
- Balls
-Corns
-Jerseys
-Indigenous seeds

@⁨Baba Ndanyi⁩ has promised two balls. @⁨Lumadi Jenyeka⁩ corns and @⁨Sharon Imali⁩ something too - to come.

We won't  mind more balls and field accessories. We won't mind a donation to help us out. There is much we still have to do together.

May we keep supporting the Saniaga agenda and we shall be happy of what we will have collectively achieved.

- With Thanks
