The struggle with many a rigid Logooli cultural practices

The Logooli community is one of the deeply cultured societies – with near everything supposed to have been done as per custom – to allow another custom to follow. One example is that for a mature man (with a child or more) to be buried, there must be a house structure at home. Another is that a boy must be circumcised and nursed in father land. If maternal family decides to, the boy will have a hard time reconnecting with father people - a dent on his masculinity. There were two children who got burnt to death in a house in Nairobi. The single mother had left for night work. Elders were told that one of the children was Logooli. The other, the woman had sired with someone else. The Logooli family wanted to burry their little one and long discussed the do’s and don’ts. Of a man who died childless and the grave was placed as if he had died as a man with children. It should have been dug on the sides, the grave. A real thorn should have been thrust in his buttocks, his name go...

Setting the date for A special General Meeting

Doc Sidika!: Great teamwork!! Kindly let us know the SGM/AGM in advance. At least a month or two so that tujipange. Sidika

Lung'afa: We deliberated it be on 18th May.

The Special General Meeting will also act as our Half Year general meeting. We shall be officially launching the sacco among other modalities. We therefore expect super brain work as we await the day. And increased commitment.

For henceforth the SACCO shall have its separate structure under the CBO to spearhead the enterprise.

May we give suggestions. Is 18th May appropriate?

Doc Sidika!: Thank you for the information. I will be out of the country. Kindly give three possible dates and let members vote for the best. I have no problems with the meeting going on without me as long as there is a quorum. Sidika

Lung'afa: @⁨Baba Ndanyi⁩ should still suggest.

Tentatively that 18th, 25th, 1st or 8th of July.

As many of us may feel convenient.

Baba Ndanyi: Will as many as are of the same opinion say eyee (aye),,,,the eyes have it,,,😁😁😁

Doc Sidika!: Please indicate the venue as well. 8th of July might be fine for me. Sidika

Govedi Muzami: Same here I will be out of 254 but I will go by the majority/quorum. Again such meetings need early planning, venue, refreshments, logistics, program and organised communication. Costs have to be factored. We all have the obligation to contribute to costs related to this meeting whether we will be attending or not.

Doc Sidika!: Which date works for you or you will be away during the suggested dates? Sidika

Lung'afa: Good morning Fam,

There is positive feedback and worthwhile concerns. Saniaga activities will soon spread wide, attract all and benefit many. May we all keep engaging whether inbox, by calls or direct posting here. It is encouraging and indebting.

@⁨Govedi Muzami⁩'s words are in order. The SANIAGA SACCO launch needs grand preparations. I would only request that we do not think there are people charged to make it happen. But for us here to suggest and take lead in insuring it is a success.

Our SACCO office may be situated at Mbale and it is upon the Saniagas there to bid. Who can offer an office space with the most favourable terms? And the office venue may inform the Special General Meeting place.

May we keep engaging on this as we update our monies. Money is sent via Mpesa  to paybill 400222 and account 218403#Name or to  Cooperative Bank account 01134698769000.

Thank You all.

Govedi Muzami: Doc I will be away for some time. My point, whoever attends will be representing us whether we are attending or not. All should be obligated to  cater meeting costs whether attending or not. Collective responsibility should be inculcated here😊
