The Kamnara of Sakwa are making ground to build for future generations

Greetings from the Kamnara of Sakwa! The Kamnara people of Sakwa on 27th December 2024 gathered at Village Park, Ajigo (near Bondo). Hosted by Kwaka Joseph, they hearkened to the consultative forum call, arriving in good numbers and early enough for a successful day. The gathering was chaired by Mr. Nying’ro James Onyango, a former (retired) assistant commissioner of Police. The introductions were excellent. The genealogies were mentioned in reverence, lengthy ones applauded. And courtesy of Enos Oyaya’s book, “Kamnara my people”, anyone who would need help had the documentation. Oyaya had launched the Kamnara book on 30th December 2022 at his home in Kamnara Mwalo, an event that gathered Vakamnara from far and wide. “What can we do that the generations to come will benefit from?” This was the clarion Mr. Kwaka Joseph called on all to fashion their minds to. And issues were raised in the fields of Education, health, agriculture, enterprise, politics and more that the swift dholuo would...

Hunters and Gatherers

Early man chased about edible animals killing them brutally by poisoned wooden spears. He made traps for others. He had some fall off cliffs. He was not satisfied by fruits, roots, tubers and leaves. There were plenty of plants then, I guess. Man could be thousands of years alive yet this attribute thrives strong within. It is dominantly expressed in Africans.

Africa before its darkness was lightened up is said to have organized civilization where kings traded gold, man had true religion, kinsmen were as worth as oneself, life was valued and they never saw Bronze Age. I am not into pan Africanism beliefs to brag around that our religion was stolen, our raw materials exploited, we had great pyramids among others. I am interested in individuals who propagate the ideas. Dig deep in them and you will find void.

Our ancestors may have had better days. But did they have their genetics die with them? The desperate man on the plate is an African. He is called a descendant of shameless Ham, he trails in IQ bell curve, The countries he exploit are in Third World category, he largely depends on subsistence farming, he waits upon gods to provide for his many begotten children yet afflicted with both known and unknown tragedies.

Because explorers were not gods walking on land, we were eager to know where they came from. We wanted to be taught their ways. They were selfless and missionaries died in tropical forests going to nurse. It was during or before our able young men were chained away to slave farms. Our very chiefs organized for that. They were greedy for bowls, glasses, watches and being ‘friends’ to white man.

After the so called independence our men and women did not improve our livelihoods better. Ignorance, Diseases and Poverty was promoted by corruption, ethnic cleansing, tribal conflicts, fight for power, nepotism. Going to school served as normality, marrying and siring an expectation, death and end regularity. No much not less does the black skin aspire for.

In twenty first century our problems are more threatening. We storm forests to make homes, make charcoal. We sit in offices, put on suits for the sake, ask for donor funding when not absent in a government office. We steal exams, steal from industries, and aspire for positions. Our fake religion reads verses worth their sermons. Children are idly served with Japan made computers. Every other land is a commercial commodity. We are building everywhere, creating space in the air. Our middleclass men own vehicles that they would be good without.

It should be remembered that Europe suffered world war effects more than Africans. Its elite, resources and infrastructure were destroyed. Their fight for a better world is evident from practices employed. In Africa, you do not know where to start from. You could be an illegitimate child begotten from lust.
