Government Work
The heart, carried in the hand
Was what I ran to save
When the government people
Were wiping out my community
In the dream
When I left the bed
The sun was scorching
The buses hooting
The dust irritating
And the heart pumping
I rushed to the government office
Fearing
To be retrenched
And I wondered why
I ran to save my heart
When I could have welcomed easy death
In the dream.

And I wondered why
I ran to save my heart
When I could have welcomed easy death
In the dream.
