What do we mean by Saniaga Sacco?

What do we mean by Saniaga Sacco? What is it about? What are its aspirations? What legacy do we want to achieve through it? Who is the beneficiary?

Saniaga Sacco is a forum for Saniaga people to cultivate the culture of collective saving and wisely borrowing to meet their needs.

By collective saving, we are able to keep our Saniaga identity firm and economically viable. Able and capacitated. We are able to have a potential source of leverage to whatever opportunities that will arise. By Savings we shall grow in pride. Our hopes increased. By savings, each one of us will have a sense of belonging, the will we all want for the Sacco. The Sacco should be able to connect Banja with Migori. Mombasa with Matunda. Nandi with Nairobi. Saniaga Sacco is our pull.

Saniaga Sacco is our treasure and equally our inheritance. Our Savings will cushion us from external monetary fluctuations. Our pulling together keeping us engaged, active and resilient.

Therefore Saniaga Sacco has its strength in savings. As many of us subscribing to membership and timely putting in their monies to grow their savings. To save is better than borrowing.

Borrowing is one of the main activities that the Sacco members are able to benefit from their savings. It is what can make members feel attached. It is what can grow individuals in their engagements. It is a good thing. But Saniaga Sacco asks you to borrow wisely, not for the sake.

The reason why Saniaga Sacco has its bright step in Savings than borrowings to grow it is because a saving culture is sustaining. A borrowing culture does not. Aiming to grow the Sacco (and member's monies) through interests on borrowings will not be as wise as asking members to grow the Sacco through their savings. The borrowing scenario is lacking in passion and intention. The Savings culture prevents us the risk, aims to spread the growth responsibility on all of us. The Savings culture is pure and noble. It is what can keep Saniaga Sacco honest to its intentions. The borrowing culture, on the other hand, would burden a few, it might meet excuses and the Sacco strain in meeting its goals.

In spreading the risk of borrowing, with an already sustainable saving culture, the Sacco can therefore, in its wisdom, engage in such activities of offering monies to individuals and groups of common interest and viable activities. With their ongoing developments, the Sacco will on its side have an ongoing and streamlined collection of dues.

And because there is no initial cheque off system, the Sacco depends on the passion and good will of members to timely give in their monies. Developing behavior, the Savings culture would first come in hand than borrowing. Where one should give in will than in task when borrowed. And on top of that, expenses of recovering borrowed monies secured for productivity.

And not every Saniaga would like to borrow. Neither accrue such anxious interests on their monies. In savings and wish for a smooth growth, Saniagas would advise on how their savings can productively go on developing others. Sometimes with little facilitation interests. Not necessarily for gain but sustainable development. Because Saniaga Sacco is not a business forum to make profits. It is a forum for collective growth.

That in so going ahead, the Sacco, with powered savings, can go ahead to cushion its members in agreeable situations of need and growth.
