Heavy responsibilities for elder aunt among the Logooli

With Seenge Fonesi. She is the elder grand daughter of Isagi and elder daughter of Amugasya. She is often present in functions involving the family of Amugasya. Pic taken on 18/4/2024. The elder sister soon becomes the elder aunt. It is this “seenge munene” (elder aunt) tag that she is tied to many cultural responsibilities – back home. To her marital family she may appear as any other woman, but she is not so in the eyes of her people. Marriage does not steal her away as it would happen with other daughters of the old man. To her, as days go and the old man and woman of the estate are dependents, she becomes increasingly present.  Her brothers also need her for almost all traditional markings. They are marrying, she needs to welcome the new wife. They are giving birth, she needs to come to midwife or “bless” the new born. They are paying dowry she needs to lead the women delegate. There is a conflict she needs to come for a hearing.  And many others. Traditions does not expect her to

I am disappointed

Lung'afa: Here is an update of Saniaga CBO members' subscriptions.

It is the subscriptions that help the CBO to operate. Unfortunately most of us are not even registered. Being in the Sacco is a good thing but being a member of the CBO is a better thing. ๐Ÿ˜Š.

We are 28 members. Only 5 are up to date. And I have only done that because their support has been through kind means. Not monetary to the CBO.

In clarifying, Mr and Mrs Kereda got us debate trophies, Luvai had an excess of last year of 500/- after supporting the organising of AGM, Sidika facilitated the book day and Ndanyi the process of Sacco registration. Has they paid direct, the money would still have done the same. And it won't be good to feel they owe the CBO for 2019 subscriptions though they can do better. ๐Ÿ˜Š.

Though I understand we should not equate philanthropic activities to subscriptions. And that is why though Lumadi got us a computer in 2018, she still owes the year's subscriptions. ๐Ÿค“

I urge all of us to have their names included and pays updated. So that we all have an active hand in the growth of the CBO.

Govedi Muzami: Bro Lung'afa kindly check the records again. I remember I was among the first members that paid for membership๐Ÿ˜ณ. Let's also have a system of acknowledging receipt for these monies and more so as we indulge with the Sacco. Regards

Lung'afa: Let me check with the blog.

At very first our treasurer was Metrine. And away from a receipt there is always a text which you can show in case of any doubt.

I will update if we confirm so.

Thank You.

Govedi Muzami: I thought one had to clear with membership before joining Sacco. Let's get those clauses clear because it seems we have more members in the Sacco that Saniaga members, thought should be other way round.

Govedi Muzami: Ok just confirm between the handover notes. Thanks

Lung'afa: There will be a way to get them through. Tentative to a discussion. Probably as we shall meet for a Special General Meeting to launch the sacco officially.

- Thanks

Govedi Muzami: Lung'afa some people came in late but remind them on:

1. how much we were to pay for membership
2. The monthly payments we had agreed on
3. Pre requisites to joining the SACCO

I know there's too much information on the blog but summarize in bullets.

Thanks.

Lung'afa: Yes, Saniaga Family group came up with Saniaga CBO as a forum of engaging members on a productive mission starting 2017.

One had to register with Ksh 500 to be a member or Ksh 5000/- for a life time membership. That is limited to ten years. These amounts are responsible for the running of the CBO which engages majorly in community library services.

On top of a CBO, and desire for economic viability, members agreed to the formation of a Sacco. Where since August 2018, there has been a commitment cash input tentative to the official registration of the Sacco.

So far so good, S-CBO keeps striving to engage ideas and win opportunities worth positive impact and sustainable growth.

All are welcome and requested to join.

We have a strong team of Elders, Patrons and Volunteers who give timely support and advise and with a three person team that represents the S-CBO office.

Joseph Ndanyi - Chair
Lung'afa Patrick - Secretary
Fanuel Indangasi - Treasurer

With Thanks.

Lung'afa: @⁨Govedi Muzami⁩, the blog says otherwise. Much as you were passionate with the formation of a CBO, the money bit may have a little slipped past. Could be due to events and commitments.

However, I would still request @⁨Metrine Livole⁩ to go through her payment list because she was the receiver of initial money. And confirm.

Please visit this initial link for our past talk.

Govedi Muzami: 1. Membership Ksh 500
2. Monthly contributions Ksh 1000. This contribution was pending the idea of the SACCO which was to be developed later.
3. SACCO membership. All members (paid up) would qualify to join the SACCO

4. S-CBO would run community libraries and other identified activities.

Actions

1. Lets have an updated list of paid up members 2017, 18 and 19.
2. Updated list of the Ksh 1000 monthly contribution for those that made payments in 2017. This will enable us understand the connection to the SACCO payments that started early last year 2018.
3. Updated list of SACCO membership and share contributions (This was shared yesterday I think)

If there is any expenditure done against Action 3 let it be shared for accountability. If there is none then I'd request this is topped up to individual shares that is to be transited to  the SACCO.

Lung'afa: So many expenditures done surpassing contributions and sometimes only accountable to S-CBO and funding person/entity.

That we do not have the merely interested fed on what they would still be food without.

Govedi Muzami: No worries and thanks for the good work that we all here appreciate๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฟ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฟ Just document and we maintain the good practice please๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฟ

Lung'afa: I appreciate. Such and other internal accountability go help us develop transparency therefore trustworthiness.

Otherwise let us support this Organisation to the fullest.

Metrine Livole: This is correct. Please review your first list and also the one I handed over Govedi is a member I will also send you a copy from my statement

Ngoda Bernard: I love the general superb intelligence of the Saniaga Family.
Not many of us are trapped in funny sects as this:

Lung'afa: @⁨Metrine Livole⁩ is yet to.

As for me let me screenshot my list for your confirmation.

Govedi Muzami: I will follow no further on this matter. I am disappointed ☹

Neccy Flossy: Lungafa, am confused.... What happened to the decision making machanism. Someone questioned about this. Muelekeo lazima uwepo as much we talk on this forum

Lung'afa: Decision making? Who is this who wants to be followed so that they can have a say?

This is the forum. Engage us.

We had an AGM and we said we are focused for the Sacco. Are we? Are members equally straight for that?

There are members who won't sit down and wait for AGMs. I am one of them. Things got to roll. In whatever halphzardness. Better than to keep mute and stagnant.

May issues be posted. May we keep talking. May ideas be allowed to flow. If you have the best thought let it be known. And if you think you can help us better, move near, commit more.

The reply is for all. And a little hard to induce the deepest of feelings - id there are. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿพ

Joash Safcom: Good morning guys. This family has different age groups, different aspirations, and different goals but all tailored in one garment SANIAGA CBO. I hope and trust we shall all achieve the above mentioned. We should improve on decision making and minimize projected 'projects'. Let us give any project ample time for growth.  May you all be blessed.

Lung'afa: Good Morning Family.

A small though on matters Decision Making.

The best way to decision making is one with a potential of action. We do not have person X working for group Y hence accountable to them.

If you want a sure say, own up a project. Support, in material means, a project. You will in fact be humbled and reduce the saying to silence of action. The projects are demanding.

In proceeding, I am a willing servant and not anyone's tool boy. I can agree with anyone or disagree with everyone. This is without letting the Saniaga course down. That I will be faithful to with or without the delay some decisions come with.

So that we only patronise the organisation. Not the people in. In my small experience with Saniaga is that the ones who offer more ask little. This is because they are not yet in need of being convinced there is a great task at hand.

In my appeal today, I request us to be of action and not words. One is dear to the heart while the other for the sake of the moment. In that way you won't be shaken by the flow of arguments - for often they bite.

May we have a working day, won't we? ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ“

Govedi Muzami: Interesting๐Ÿ˜ณ

Govedi Muzami: What is a project

A project is a series of activities aimed at bringing about clearly specified objectives within a defined time - period and with a defined budget.

A project should have the following;

-Clearly identified stakeholders, including the primary target group and the target beneficiaries
- Clearly defined coordination, management and financing arrangements
- A monitoring and evaluation system ( to support performance Management)
-An appropriate level of financial and economic analysis which indicates that the projects benefits will exceed it's costs

Let's try to adhere to this simple guidance and within a strategy.

We have the SACCO and the library that we are pursuing concurrently. We need to communicate asap the earliest time possible to have the AGM to officially kick off the SACCO. Structures should be very clear with teams to handle the crafting of the Constitution (ya SACCO) that will set rules and regulations. Office bearers to have defined roles and responsibilities. Also key here will be a communication person to collate, manage information and disseminate agreed policies or way forward.

Therefore we have the following;

1. Saniaga Family ( all members)
2. Saniaga Community Based Organization (S-CBO) an off shoot from the Saniaga Family (Group) that will engage in multiple activities (Library, Football and other agreed IGAs) The S-CBO already has it's structure and is already up and running. Members are free to choose which activities to support/sponsor
3. Saniaga SACCO. This is still at the proposal stage but we have started collecting members shares. This group targets a membership of 50 and is open to members willing to join. This is where we need to expedite to operationalize the SACCO.

The S-CBO and SACCO will operate under the umbrella of Saniaga Family (Group)

The Saniaga Family (Group) is yet to agree on membership periodic contributions to benevolence or other pressing needs that might befallen a member/s

I am not an official in this group but a volunteer as stated in the Constitution. I will try where possible to support where needed or where I don't a gap. The same applies to all of us as members๐Ÿ˜Š

Bon appetit....Enjoy your lunch.

Patrick Analo Akivaga: Point succulently communicated.

Patrick Analo Akivaga: Organisational strategy and functional separation of mandate and duties is very key in order to succeed.Embedded in it is accountability.

Lung'afa: This is welcome and largely agreed on. Thank You.

Once we receive the SACCO registration, we shall here deliberate on a day for the AGM (though it is called Special General Meeting).

At the meeting, which is nigh, we shall be propping a number of things. A credit committee for the Sacco Operation, area of location -office, et al.

We shall also AOB the CBO undertakings and forth. As easily as the members could be understanding or as officially as need may request.

Let us then strive to attend on that day. And be updated with our contributions. So that we reduce the gap between action and will.

Thanks

Baba Kereda: thanks for the highlights. we need to move with speed and  have spartan's life to survive

Victoria Ndanyi: I agree. There has to be clear distinction among the various projects and ventures. Each project/venture needs to have clear guidelines and office bearers known for accountability and better progress.

Victoria Ndanyi: Jumbling up everything is a recipe for a disaster

Lung'afa: Yes Victoria. When will you serve guests with water? Nothing has been coming forth.

Victoria Ndanyi: ๐Ÿคช heheee! Noted.

Neccy Flossy: Wapi the chair, in this. Mbona  K i m u y a!

Lung'afa: ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š

We who do ignore gate keepers to be attended to the Master of the temple have always lost our way in the castle. ๐Ÿค“.

Any problem worth the need?

Baba Kereda: mafumbo ya teacher.

Baba Ndanyi: I am very much in the picture, as long as the discussion is healthy, I am an excellent listener, we are on the right track

Baba Ndanyi: The problem is when we crowd at some one point, then the stone throwing and people lefting etc, we are a big group with diverse interests and proffessions, let's allow those who know better on a certain topic give us professional guidance.

Lung'afa: Members, it is requested of you to register as S-CBO members and pay your subscriptions.

It is essential to the day to day running of the CBO.

It is 500/- for registration and the same amount for subscriptions. Should we backdate from 2017?

Pay via Paybill 400222
A/c 218403#yourname
Forward a message confirming the payment to 0700186018.

Thanks

Govedi Muzami: Lung'afa Good job๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฟ. Now I request that for those of us that paid earlier. Can our money be converted to cater to our yearly membership๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฟ?

Govedi Muzami: That money was spent for the first AGM I know

Lung'afa: Yes, our very first monies were used to register CBO and organise for our first AGM. That is why your name missed at the members. You had paid for AGM. But you did jot attend. Yet others attended and had not paid. Don't we call it settling damages? So that it does not be asked to stand for registration?

Thanks.

Govedi Muzami: No worries. The money was spent. I am asking since now that we have a majority, please check against the below names and allocate accordingly their contributions. Alafu we start from a fresh note. We are aware that the  money has been spent

Govedi Muzami: We need to be cushioned as well Lung'afa๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ™ˆ

Lung'afa: It is well allocated. Those  are July - Dec 2017 contributions. Some past cause of AGM. There was also a benevolent then, Luvai's sister had passed.

We pick up only at the registration and subscription. As at the members' list above.

Thanks.

Govedi Muzami: Correct. Forget the benovelent one

Govedi Muzami: I am just appealing for those on that list๐Ÿ˜

Govedi Muzami: Everybody needs to pay membership
