Luanda Reggae Defenders - what is your long term agenda?

Luanda Reggae Defenders is a now a popular movement with roots in Vihiga and border Siaya and Kakamega counties Attention is brought to the manner and conduct the movement has gained fame and followers, mainly the Youths. The movement capitalizes on funerals. With a poor culture of putting the dead to rest, the Reggae Defenders have taken it by storm and rebranded the infamous ‘Disco Matanga’ – disco at funeral. They have this huge old school sound system that is over buzzing to no clear reggae song - that they hire a pickup to carry - and it has a young DJ mainly standing there than mixing anything. Often, against the rules, the casket is grabbed from a hearse vehicle and tied to a motorbike. There it will be swayed and jerk breaked between other motorbikes on the narrow roads. That, is, how a fellow soldier, often a young dead, is mourned. ...

TEACHERS: To down tools is to fail the soil.

Greetings dear teachers,

If you are against strikes-and more so this- you are on my side of thoughts. If you are pro-Sossion then I have a bone to break with you. Let us see why.

The continuing government-teachers gymnastics of who can be greater than who in terms of protecting ones rights and liberty is a common societal pandemonium. Because people are-many to say- society finds itself in such wrangles. It ranges from less learned teacher to robot lawyers.

I am also of the view that I should be added more token to the work I do with Heart to Heart Organization. But when I walk to one of the schools we support and hear the complains of the cook, I swallow my pride. When I visit homes, I gulp more sour saliva. Indeed people should live decently depending on their labour.

Teaching is a profession that will die with time and everyone with his mind and knowledge will inform another. Syllabus and education are a creation to control the masses. With the up come of Wi-Fi- a greatest learning resource- the classrooms will be turned into rehabilitation centers; or create more rooms for the police force and increased population- before we send more people to live in Mars- thanks to Elon Musk's passion. But now that we still have teachers, let us talk about it.

It defeats moral argument that work without pay is uncalled for. For whom are you working for? Yourself and your society. Not the government. For who is the government? First should we blame you for being? Becoming a teacher? Giving birth to a child in school? Or should we start this argument on your fence- 'I want my money!'

I am to blame you for choosing a wrong profession-or any other employable position-and secondly undecided with what to do for it. Serious teachers are in the class teaching- not for gains or pay. I know of some whom if they were tripled in salaries they would increase their vanity. Lackingness is a virtue in a way. I am not saying poverty.

As you yawn and discuss of how the government is responding to Sossion's group- Groups that are created to rumble rather than lead- do you think even the pay will better of your life? A teacher cannot earn more than a doctor and so on. This is as a result of the social set-up. This means that if a teacher's salary is increased- the nation's masses- then the shilling will water down obviously. Keep in mind that you are not a private entity; the very society you thinking deny you your gain will be the one to haunt back. Taxes will be our third child.

Some- the young and old- are using this time to strengthen rumours, waste time, do other activities among being debauchery. What was the intention of University Education Students when they aired a conference over the same? Just to be heard? A youth's horns I guess. Days will move on.

The private schools are also among the poorest paid teachers who have qualifications but the society has no enough slots for them. At the end of the term, when private schools will have passed exams well, the government mouths will be all over to call for inequality in sharing top notch secondary positions. When laziness and excuses are being tolerated, no mind is thinking.

And if the government decides to refrain from paying, will schooling end in Kenya? And if that will be the start of an uprising, to which order can teacher-led riot take us to? The emperor-government- is not a causative agent to your problems. Blame your mind.Teaching is a critical role in society that continues to fail day in as the society becomes dynamic and porous. What will a status quo mind tell a 21st century brain? Gone are the days in Africa when a teacher could curse a pupil.

I look forward to teaching in future. African literature that is. But I pray to do it on volunteering basis.

Thank you.

God bless teachers.
