The struggle with many a rigid Logooli cultural practices

The Logooli community is one of the deeply cultured societies – with near everything supposed to have been done as per custom – to allow another custom to follow. One example is that for a mature man (with a child or more) to be buried, there must be a house structure at home. Another is that a boy must be circumcised and nursed in father land. If maternal family decides to, the boy will have a hard time reconnecting with father people - a dent on his masculinity. There were two children who got burnt to death in a house in Nairobi. The single mother had left for night work. Elders were told that one of the children was Logooli. The other, the woman had sired with someone else. The Logooli family wanted to burry their little one and long discussed the do’s and don’ts. Of a man who died childless and the grave was placed as if he had died as a man with children. It should have been dug on the sides, the grave. A real thorn should have been thrust in his buttocks, his name go...

Knowing one's roots is great!

-: Hello family. Saniaks are Avasaniaga. They don't intermarry with Avasaniaga because they are the same family. A colleague told me this some years ago. He isa Nandi and married a Saniak. He was asked if he is a Saniak so as not to marry the lady.
We need to ascertain if what is documented about us is true. First, our parentage is descended from Mulogooli. We therefore need to ascertain if we were born by a grand daughter of Mulogooli out of wedlock and grew up in Maragoli. Second, Kamnara is the Luo corruption of come near. Historically, Wazungu recruited Avasaniaga to carry their (Wazungu) guns. The guns were shot at close range, hence come near. The Luo then asumed the Saniaga gun carriers were the ones called Kamnara and so they gave the Saniaga that name. Those who remained in Luoland are called Kamnara and have since been assimilated.
I suggest we interrogate this issue. We also need to know where T.G. Onzere comes from & if he is still alive.

-: Knowing our roots is great. Barrak Obama came to his ancestral home with his wife, that time as a senator. I learnt they also went to West Africa where Michelle's ancestors were captured as slaves. It was a memorable homecoming for each of them.

-: Visitors have no idea. Can  the info be shared here?

-: When a saniaga is added. He or she should undergo a briefing  on what the group is all about and how far it has gone in order to catch up with others

-‬: This is correct.

-: Noted, I too was in the dark

-‬: True

-‬: Hee inze ni wa Ngoda Chuma, mwenye alikuwa Secretary wa Madete as Chair of Saniaga Welfare Association. Thanks,

-‬: I did not make it to attend the AGM because I was on duty on 27th up to date. But I wish to solemnly swear to my Saniaga ancestors am committeed to this worthy course. To negate an ancestoral heritage like this is to disown my very being. In African socialism espoused as Ubuntu we say "I am because You Are,and because you Are I am".I speak for myself.
