The Kamnara of Sakwa are making ground to build for future generations
Greetings from the Kamnara of Sakwa! The Kamnara people of Sakwa on 27th December 2024 gathered at Village Park, Ajigo (near Bondo). Hosted by Kwaka Joseph, they hearkened to the consultative forum call, arriving in good numbers and early enough for a successful day. The gathering was chaired by Mr. Nying’ro James Onyango, a former (retired) assistant commissioner of Police. The introductions were excellent. The genealogies were mentioned in reverence, lengthy ones applauded. And courtesy of Enos Oyaya’s book, “Kamnara my people”, anyone who would need help had the documentation. Oyaya had launched the Kamnara book on 30th December 2022 at his home in Kamnara Mwalo, an event that gathered Vakamnara from far and wide. “What can we do that the generations to come will benefit from?” This was the clarion Mr. Kwaka Joseph called on all to fashion their minds to. Allow me say the following with regard to Saniak clan and it's origins-Like many other clans,it cuts a cross several ethnic groups.Like the Abatembori or abatabori or mataborik(in maragoli, gusii and kipsigis respectively) the Saniak clan is older than so called Bukusu, maragoli etc groupings. This clan a long others( I can mention them if you so wish) we're Of Dorobo/Athi/Gumba(The earliest inhabitants of East Africa). The Bantu,Nilotes and Eastern Cushites later migrated into the region resulting cultural borrowing on large scale. The above later immigrants ended up inheriting clan names from the ancient groups. That is why clans such as the Kapchemuri among the Nandi,The Abashimuri(Idakho),Abamuri(Bunyore) and Umuri(Luo) draw from the same source. The same can be said a bout the Avasweta(Maragoli),Paswetek(Kipsigis) and Avasweta(Gusii).Abakivuta in maragoli are one with the Chepta whose other name is the Talaai. The Kigame of Uganda are of same extraction as the Chiga of Tanzania;so are the Haya(TZ),Khayo(Busia) and Vakihaya(Imuhaya-Vihiga).Allot of information we have in our history text books are just but myths. The various clans listed as the maragoli,Bukusu,Nandi components are not necessarily blood relatives, according to athropological research,an ethnic group is made up of original founding clans or families, foreign clans/families and a dopted strangers.Migration, warfare, trade, intermarriages tore and fused together different entities.(watcha nikomee happy kwa leo)
