The struggle with many a rigid Logooli cultural practices

The Logooli community is one of the deeply cultured societies – with near everything supposed to have been done as per custom – to allow another custom to follow. One example is that for a mature man (with a child or more) to be buried, there must be a house structure at home. Another is that a boy must be circumcised and nursed in father land. If maternal family decides to, the boy will have a hard time reconnecting with father people - a dent on his masculinity. There were two children who got burnt to death in a house in Nairobi. The single mother had left for night work. Elders were told that one of the children was Logooli. The other, the woman had sired with someone else. The Logooli family wanted to burry their little one and long discussed the do’s and don’ts. Of a man who died childless and the grave was placed as if he had died as a man with children. It should have been dug on the sides, the grave. A real thorn should have been thrust in his buttocks, his name go...

Seeing no importance of looking in the past?

Frank Agesa: I think we should focus our energy in building saniaga sacco, I don't see any importance of trying to look in the past, yaliopita si ndwele, let's focus na saniaga sacco, juu hiyo ndiyo yaeza badilisha maisha ya wa saniaga and non wasaniaga

Peter Kirima: Lung'afa can elaborate to you that the Saniaga Sacco is just one part of the bigger picture of Saniaga initiatives. When the group was formed in 2017 the discussions began by asking about our origin. My opinions are personal. Would you rather know your history or entertain political forwards that I see here!☺. Oh! I'm an active member of the Sacco. Don't get offended

Lung'afa: @⁨Frank Agesa⁩, we are in order. We have no fireside (dining table) stories when we meet our kins. We get stolen by the trends. Politics, wrangles, negativity or silence!

A keen follower will get one or two things to share with another. Or raise curiosity. Those who travel can go ask for us a question out there. All in the search and preservation of our identity. It is what keeps us close here.

The Sacco is in order too. But it is secondary. The CBO is secondary too. We are before they are. 😁. But we need to make them excel. From an informed point of view.

What we should do we should not bombard the group with unconfirmed stories of what may have been our origin. It destabilizes our comforts. 😇 . Yet the blogspot wants those speculations for record purpose and future engagements. The rest that is shared here away from Saniaga is what we discourage. It is the noise in the works. 😊.

Thanks and let us contribute for the Sacco!

Frank Agesa: Bro I don't get offended by personal opinion, coz  the constitution entitle everyone to his views, but does looking for saniaga all over the world going to help you, when you can kill you blood brother becoz a fence? Toka hapo, sacco is the way forward

Peter Kirima: Again, thank you for you views.

Bensolo Ndanyi: It's through the noise that makes the group active and people get to interact than being silent also it makes other feel comfortable too and also learn or get information from

Frank Agesa: Lung'afa you are right in away /maybe wrong, but the truth is we should focus on the big picture, je kujua origin of saniaga going to add food on you table?but saniaga sacco can do that

Baba Ndanyi: Amongst us are authors besides other professionals, out of the noise and attempts to trace history, the have materials to research on, so please try to accommodate diversity of opinions, you may be helping your kin unknowingly.

Vincent Iramuka: Those who fail to learn from history.........
A knowledge of ones origins forms a firm foundation on which to build the future
We can chew gum and cross the street (we can discuss both history and "development" matters)
Pick what interests you

Vincent Iramuka: We join the forum for various reasons. We must accomodate each other. The sacco issues might not be priority for all of us but we accomodate and participate. Please do not muzzle us
