The struggle with many a rigid Logooli cultural practices

The Logooli community is one of the deeply cultured societies – with near everything supposed to have been done as per custom – to allow another custom to follow. One example is that for a mature man (with a child or more) to be buried, there must be a house structure at home. Another is that a boy must be circumcised and nursed in father land. If maternal family decides to, the boy will have a hard time reconnecting with father people - a dent on his masculinity. There were two children who got burnt to death in a house in Nairobi. Saniaga mweremi December 2018

Pic - With the group secrerary, Otwere Stephen (centre) and Beatrice Akoto, treasurer.

Saniaga Mweremi Group (Moi's Bridge) have greeted you all. Today was their second last meeting for the year. I was humbled to be part of them.

They relate their group history back in 1993 when the settling in 'scheme' was taking shape and more people were in need of an association, as that they left home (Vihiga). It was an elder called David Mudogo that lead the team to the millennium when a new office took up. More of this group's history will be posted at saniaga.org

I have in the past shared their pictures here and today I have two. Just for the library.
