The Kamnara of Sakwa are making ground to build for future generations

Greetings from the Kamnara of Sakwa! The Kamnara people of Sakwa on 27th December 2024 gathered at Village Park, Ajigo (near Bondo). Hosted by Kwaka Joseph, they hearkened to the consultative forum call, arriving in good numbers and early enough for a successful day. The gathering was chaired by Mr. Nying’ro James Onyango, a former (retired) assistant commissioner of Police. The introductions were excellent. The genealogies were mentioned in reverence, lengthy ones applauded. And courtesy of Enos Oyaya’s book, “Kamnara my people”, anyone who would need help had the documentation. Oyaya had launched the Kamnara book on 30th December 2022 at his home in Kamnara Mwalo, an event that gathered Vakamnara from far and wide. “What can we do that the generations to come will benefit from?” This was the clarion Mr. Kwaka Joseph called on all to fashion their minds to. And issues were raised in the fields of Education, health, agriculture, enterprise, politics and more that the swift dholuo would...

There is no need to merge any Saniaga Groupings

Chabuga Mahelo: Dear Saniaga.
Having gone through the official documents of Saniaga Welfare Society and Saniaga CBO ( Sacco  ) I would suggest that the two organisations officials should meet together to propose on Modalities of merging the two organisations into one bigger national body to incorporate Sacco to accommodate all the Saniaga community in Kenya. I can see the two organisations have one common goal ( to empower it's members for a better livelihood). A very important and fantastic goal.  I request for good views from you leaders and members at large. God bless Saniaga community. AMEN

Sheila Idala: That meeting between the welfare and CBO should be as soon as possible

Bensolo Ndanyi: Nothing to add here I think its a good idea coz besides it's going to benefit them too so I think it's a good idea

Ngana Lubanga: Good idea to merge the two. Modalities of merger to be worked out and communicated

Baba Ndanyi: One question, what would be the best point of contact, which direction, the welfare direction or the CBO direction? Give reasons for your choices.

Chabuga Mahelo: The welfare direction is for the wider Saniaga community but the CBO is for the vihiga county community only.  The Saniaga community is spread all over Kenya and across the Kenyan boundaries. I prefer the Welfare direction

Bensolo Ndanyi: Both is ok maybe we should have one thing but different dipartments

Chabuga Mahelo: The umbrella body should be the welfare but there are some projects which can be operated under the county and national government line ministries

Lung'afa: Hello Fam,

There is no need of merging any group with any other group. In fact we need more focussed local based groups. As many Self Helps, CBO's and Welfares. From their areas of location and for purposes of frequent meetings and one-to-one interactions.

A suggestion was brought in yesterday to use Saniaga Welfare Society umbrella. It was disagreed upon as written in the minutes. May the members of that team keep on pushing their aims and increase their reach as they have been doing.

We should foster Partnership of purpose. For example Saniaga CBO is championing libraries. Which other Saniaga Group wants a library and only needs technical support? We shall be there to help as a CBO among other things.

The narrative of a CBO being of a limited reach is not welcomed. Whenever there shall be a need to go beyond borders there shall be other agreements. It can be in form of a bussiness name among other ways of expansion.

The Welfare part is welcome. But it is not our MAIN aim.

Now we are giving birth to SANIAGA SACCO. To me, this is the being born umbrella body. It is being discussed by all of us. It shall source its members everywhere (nationally) without affecting existing subgroups. Those groups are many.  The Sacco can cater for 'welfare' in many ways among other saniaga needs.

- Let us keep discussing and Thanks.
