The struggle with many a rigid Logooli cultural practices

The Logooli community is one of the deeply cultured societies – with near everything supposed to have been done as per custom – to allow another custom to follow. One example is that for a mature man (with a child or more) to be buried, there must be a house structure at home. Another is that a boy must be circumcised and nursed in father land. If maternal family decides to, the boy will have a hard time reconnecting with father people - a dent on his masculinity. There were two children who got burnt to death in a house in Nairobi. The single mother had left for night work. Elders were told that one of the children was Logooli. The other, the woman had sired with someone else. The Logooli family wanted to burry their little one and long discussed the do’s and don’ts. Of a man who died childless and the grave was placed as if he had died as a man with children. It should have been dug on the sides, the grave. A real thorn should have been thrust in his buttocks, his name go...

A Library project?

Lung'afa: .....Now, if there is a project, investment whatever initiative Saniagas may want to do, I pray it be related to a LIBRARY 📔📋🔬✏🖊📖📚🗄 !
......... Here are T-shirt logos, which one do you like? And what questions do you have?

Lung'afa: Can it start as a small library? A resource...then a kitty is organised from there? A library/bookshop can create other major avenues as me thinks. We would do programs that preserve lulogoli, educate people, advocacy on issues and of course have an investment alongside. We would be achieving CSR in our main activity. As you guys think, let us consider it.

Lung'afa: This Saniaga Library thing is on Facebook only now with 1k+ likes. We can make it REAL. And from there we can do great things.
.................................
Here is the consulted plan.
1. Register the library as CBO. This is a youth avenue to do programmes of personal elevation as research,  community work, interactions and form social groups as per their areas of interest.

2. Have Saniaga 'Elders' as Board members to oversee the functions of the Library. They be in charge of related activities, exposure, resources, good will and advice. They shall also be custodians of resources and initiators of projects. The Saniaga Kitty and Investments be a REALISATION of their guidance.
........................
Way forward
1. Register by end of September
2. Raise initial operation costs through selling of T-shirts and personal commitment.
3. Open an operation booth, get a suitable place of operation that shall equally serve as an office by October
4. Solicit for staffing of materials through outreach, letter writing and donations. We need books more than anything. There are many 'old school' books in school that we may get and make them helpful.
5. Get lessons to Expand, Think of better ways by DECEMBER.
......
PS; -if you have a better idea please share it.

Ndanyi Saniaga: Will the library be physically located somewhere and if so where, or is it on line? The T-shirt looks great, would like to purchase 2  in different colors.

Lung'afa: The Library is online...we would need a good place to set it physically. It can be anywhere...
