The struggle with many a rigid Logooli cultural practices

The Logooli community is one of the deeply cultured societies – with near everything supposed to have been done as per custom – to allow another custom to follow. One example is that for a mature man (with a child or more) to be buried, there must be a house structure at home. Another is that a boy must be circumcised and nursed in father land. If maternal family decides to, the boy will have a hard time reconnecting with father people - a dent on his masculinity. There were two children who got burnt to death in a house in Nairobi. The single mother had left for night work. Elders were told that one of the children was Logooli. The other, the woman had sired with someone else. The Logooli family wanted to burry their little one and long discussed the do’s and don’ts. Of a man who died childless and the grave was placed as if he had died as a man with children. It should have been dug on the sides, the grave. A real thorn should have been thrust in his buttocks, his name go...

Saying #4

-Utakina kwigina rigina ruya-
Utakina -dare not, joke not
Kwigina -stone, tough, hard
rigina -rock, stone
uruya -fire, backfire, deadly, feared
Largely the proverb is a warning to those who go about messing and thinking they would get about with it. One day it happens that they find themselves between a rock and hard place, no option but to face the consequences. It could be breaking of taboos or belittling a person who is mightier. The person is later made to know that there is a bitter part of his bad ways. I call upon @⁨Ndanyi Saniaga⁩ to add more.
Luvai: Utadidikana kutivula lilola lilio anoho kukalaga ku makuva naho liiva ligeni liaukikiri kumanyiritsa. Ligina liveeye noluuya lulahi mmbasu nigukivala ku; vudiku liveetsanga litsiriru liotikala ku!! Consider both sides of an issue b4 judgement; however thin a pancake, it has two sides!!
Mudengani Kisia: Uhulii Lung'afa? Utakina kwigina vudiku, rigina uruya mmbasu.
Ndanyi Saniaga: Patrick is a young man and I like the way he is eager to learn by way of provoking you guys.😀😀
Lung'afa: Hahaha, well put by Luvai. It goes like Keseko chagwa mariga. You start a thing jokingly which later becomes trouble.
Lung'afa: Takinira kumusaniaga, musaniaga ruya! 😎
