Heavy responsibilities for elder aunt among the Logooli

With Seenge Fonesi. She is the elder grand daughter of Isagi and elder daughter of Amugasya. She is often present in functions involving the family of Amugasya. Pic taken on 18/4/2024. The elder sister soon becomes the elder aunt. It is this “seenge munene” (elder aunt) tag that she is tied to many cultural responsibilities – back home. To her marital family she may appear as any other woman, but she is not so in the eyes of her people. Marriage does not steal her away as it would happen with other daughters of the old man. To her, as days go and the old man and woman of the estate are dependents, she becomes increasingly present.  Her brothers also need her for almost all traditional markings. They are marrying, she needs to welcome the new wife. They are giving birth, she needs to come to midwife or “bless” the new born. They are paying dowry she needs to lead the women delegate. There is a conflict she needs to come for a hearing.  And many others. Traditions does not expect her to

Hi, welcome Erick. You help in planning for the day.

Metrine Livole: Hi good pple a reminder, contributions towards the bereaved families on going till 16/11/17 so far I have 1,030/- from 2 members let's team up n do better. Thanks

Lung'afa: True. Baba Luvai vaveye mumariga karunu. Vosi vaveye nuvuriduhu vwamariga kovoraa modi. Modi. Modi.
- Nyasaye akohe zinguru

Mukayagi Ngoda: I know about the breavement but had no idea about the ivaane. Now I know.

Lung'afa: Erick, how did I forget to add you here? Forgive me. This is the 'consultations room' and sister to Saniaga Family. It is a circle of idealistic people.

As for those who do not know Erick, he served as Vihiga County University Students (VICOUSU)  as Sec Gen, that time I represented KU chapter. Haha, it is the other day 2013/14. Now he is the elected member Gisambai Ward MCA. Young and powerful! It is the other day we knew we were all Saniaga!

Because he is of Madete Family in extension, him and Baba Ngoda can nicely coordinate to the day.

Again, karibu bro.

Exec Erick: Thanks bro for add the idea of coming together is brilliant let's plan I talk to Amb Bruce if we can use sosa

Lung'afa: That has been the talk here bro. Now that you in, it makes things easier. You shall be engaged accordingly by our elders here.
- May we have a good night.

Exec Erick: Thanks avana veru navaretane

Mukayagi Ngoda: Hon Odei congrats. Great to see you here.

Lung'afa: Murembe yengo,

Baba Ndanyi and I are planning to visit Sosa this starting week. And it would be best if Baba Ngoda and Odei were also available - maybe we have a short Itamunari. Can it be possible? We can work on day and time in the week.

Have a peaceful night.

Jeska sidika Wambani: Bwakira. I think that is great. Try to find out if they require a deposit for the meeting or they just need to know. Kindly send me your the telephone number of Hurbert. I can talk with him before your visit. Rest and rise well. Sidika

Jeska sidika Wambani: I also kindly request we treat each other as equals and with respect. Just Saniagas!!!! Other titles will then be introduced during the AGM. Some individuals might feel intimidated.Just call me Sidika. Is Hurbert on 0724465hh2? Kindly confirm for me. I will give him a call tomorrow. Sidika

Mukayagi Ngoda: A good idea Lung'afa. Fwaana ilisiza niliakahingikana kigila ng'umiliki ku lidiku lie ibarasa nu mulwakavili. Wamanya ku itamunari ni itirivino ni amayarizu? Halala kwoosi.

- Sande

Lung'afa: That reminds me of Macbeth. Varoji vavaga. Nakwagane ri vavaga kandi?

Patrick Analo Akivaga: Welcome Erick

Jeska sidika Wambani: Good afternoon all. I talked with Mr Ongechi Hurbert. He gave me an outline of their buffet menu. They serve two meats( chicken, beef), three starches(rice, ugali, chapati), vegetables (saga, managu, terere, ndengu and cowpeas), desert(cut fruit=watermelon, pineapple, mangoes and a cake). This is priced at shs(k)1400. If we add fish then we pay shs(k) 1500 or we remove one meat and replace it with fish. The chief Chef decides on the type of cake for the day(marble, banana, fruit). There are two items we need to decide on 1. The meat and 2. The type of desert cake. He says that the earlier conversation was difficult to follow. Let's kindly review and decide on the two items. I think we can replace beef with fish and have a fruit cake. Feel free to give your opinion. Sidika

Baba Ndanyi: @⁨Jeska sidika Wambani⁩
Great, we are now fine tuning the get together/AGM, it's affordable and would urge as many of us as possible to attend, its better to put the funds together thru the treasurer to make an early booking, find out if we need to do anything else.

Lung'afa: Do we need to cut a Saniaga cake?

The above is cool but I find it a little extravagant to spend 1500 on a meal. Ugali Kienyeji @Ksh 60 or 100 has always made me full - Eating Lami. This is no objection to the above but will it not make us spend more on food than we have ever had in registration and forth. May we consider that.

We want to produce T-shirts, key holders and any saniaga brand products. We are limited with cash. Anyone who can step in for that? (The letter to request support was turned down here)

That is but a few thoughts as we look forward to our Day.

PS - Baba Ndanyi, how do you see to the Friday meeting? Baba Ngoda confirmed his availability.

Lung'afa: Welcome Muhali. Pleasure to have you here.

Family, Muhali accepted to volunteer for Welfare Team Leader. That is beautiful considering most of us are still unsure to  what extent should they commit to the course.

We therefore remain with seven Teams at the Organogram - without volunteer leaders. It would be good if active members took a specific area of advancing the Saniaga course.

We go do it together Muhali, the family here is Top Notch.

Evans Muhali: Thank you very much Lung'afa for welcoming me on board. I look forward to serving my clan members. Let's help make life better for our clansmen.

Jeska sidika Wambani: Sosa have requested that the desert cake be marble. Let me know if that is fine. I think and suggest that someone to negotiate the price to 1k so that many can attend but the food can be reduced so that we take small bites and not a full course meal.I hear Mr. Lung'afa. Let's support each other. Let us know who is unemployed or is unable but would like to attend. It's the Christmas spirit. I remember we used to walk up to Chavakali just to see the mzingu picnic. Sidika

Baba Ndanyi: @⁨Lung'afa⁩
@⁨Jeska sidika Wambani⁩
Vuchee Vasaniaga viitu, nganagana koveyage hiimbi kuduuka wakuziizanga,
We can negotiate food prize at Sosa downwards by paying as a group and in advance, Patrick, we value your input in the family and as a son I wouldn't want to eat a  meal of 1500/=, and give my son for 150/= I will come on Friday we meet with akina Umwami Ngoda etc at Sosa, I know we will not fail to strike a reasonable deal.

Lung'afa: Hehe. Eng'ombe niyana yaniraa zindi.  Na kemori nichana? L'lara kijira za nikirage. Thanks for the continued input.

Now, @⁨Exec Erick⁩. Our dads have confirmed time. You confirm your availability on Friday.

Lung'afa: People would really attend. Many. Just that we don't prioritise the paying for food - once there they will sought.

- We really mobilising attendance.

Mukayagi Ngoda: @⁨Baba Ndanyi⁩  I'm in total agreement with what you say Amwavo. We will discuss further at the sitting. I'm sure @⁨Exec Erick⁩ will join us because Friday is not bunge day.

Evans Muhali: I have experience in organizing such meetings in hotels and in most cases the negotiations are made easier if you have a good number of confirmed psying attendees. The higher the number of paying participants the lower hotel prices, and the more varieties of food on the buffet you'll get. Numbers really matter during negotiations for food prices with hotels. My take.

Fanuel Igunza: Yeee...ovoyage vurahi....alafu isa yu kwingira....saa ine ni mapema Sana.....make it say nane.......ama namnagani?
