The struggle with many a rigid Logooli cultural practices

The Logooli community is one of the deeply cultured societies – with near everything supposed to have been done as per custom – to allow another custom to follow. One example is that for a mature man (with a child or more) to be buried, there must be a house structure at home. Another is that a boy must be circumcised and nursed in father land. If maternal family decides to, the boy will have a hard time reconnecting with father people - a dent on his masculinity. There were two children who got burnt to death in a house in Nairobi. The single mother had left for night work. Elders were told that one of the children was Logooli. The other, the woman had sired with someone else. The Logooli family wanted to burry their little one and long discussed the do’s and don’ts. Of a man who died childless and the grave was placed as if he had died as a man with children. Vincent Iramuka: Anyone with information on a msaniaga Mzee by the name Agure Anakanyonyi? Must have lived in the late 1800's around Chavakali area. Doing some research and could use any information about him. Thanks in advance

Lung'afa: thinking...

Vincent Iramuka: You're an ardent student of history Lung'afa. Help me out

Lung'afa: Are you on ground or you researching from some estate in the capital? 😜

Vincent Iramuka: Niko mashinani. The oldest member of my family(around 90) gave me that name as our great, great, great grandfather. Wonder if anyone else here shares him in their lineage

Lung'afa: It could be...we go ask elders. Alisema which area specifically? Cause Saniaga wa chavakali wako nyuma ya Ivona, wengine Keveye, wengine Stend Kisa -kwenu

Vincent Iramuka: I belong to the stand Kisa group. Our original him was at Chavalali high school and friends church but we were kicked out by Amugune when the church and school were being set up. Our fore father-Iramuka moved towards the idzava around stand Kisa where there is a settlement to date

Lung'afa: 😁. Amugune was full of Holy Spirit, hehe. Who is this saniaga @90?

Vincent Iramuka: Mzee Lugongo. He is now blind but still has a sharp mind. You should meet him

Lung'afa: Yea. Kesho nitakuja chavakali. Will give a call.

Vincent Iramuka: Karibu
