The struggle with many a rigid Logooli cultural practices

The Logooli community is one of the deeply cultured societies – with near everything supposed to have been done as per custom – to allow another custom to follow. One example is that for a mature man (with a child or more) to be buried, there must be a house structure at home. Another is that a boy must be circumcised and nursed in father land. If maternal family decides to, the boy will have a hard time reconnecting with father people - a dent on his masculinity. There were two children who got burnt to death in a house in Nairobi. The single mother had left for night work. Elders were told that one of the children was Logooli. The other, the woman had sired with someone else. The Logooli family wanted to burry their little one and long discussed the do’s and don’ts. Of a man who died childless and the grave was placed as if he had died as a man with children. It should have been dug on the sides, the grave. A real thorn should have been thrust in his buttocks, his name go...

Won't you tell us about the plans you have?

Lung'afa: Haha. Come next year, in my opinion, we shall do SANIAGA programs that require ZERO money from members.
- It will work, maybe.

Kibisu Joash: What of if l would like to come with my family?

Kibisu Joash: There's no program that one cant use money

Lung'afa: It would be kind of you.
- watakukumbuka one day

Lung'afa: Sure. That the costs will be catered for. No asking people to contribute. Just attend if one wishes.

Kibisu Joash: The cost aspect!!!

Lung'afa: Watembeze! Cost baadae.

Evans Muhali: From what I've gathered here, we have negotiated with the hotel for a buffet, infact I believe even the food on the buffet has been agreed on and I believe that's what the hotel is preparing for. I wonder if you can just change, plans Midway... I think more info about the meeting on 30th and the program needs to be put on the main groups wall more regularly and secondly is it an AGM or a family get-together? The poster I've seen here talks about a family get-together.. correct me if I'm wrong.

Kibisu Joash: Who will cater for the programs? Even the government taxes citizens to initiate development programs

Lung'afa: We haven't done any permanent agreement with the hotel. We just know what they can do for us if we are sure. We not yet sure of ourselves.

Lung'afa: See the pace. Next year we shall have 2018 AGM and no member will pay for it.
- God willing.

Metrine Livole: Its already on the higher side, 1500/- pp

Evans Muhali: I wonder who would pay for it then... it'll have to cost money

Lung'afa: We shall not sit and wait to be asking contributions. That is how it will be catered for.

The poster is aimed at attracting interested Family members. As much as we shall be having an AGM, it would be good if people came to say Hi to one another.

Evans Muhali: @⁨Lung'afa⁩ this being the planning committee of the group, I would request you to share with us where you think we'll get money from next year to pay for the AGM without asking for contributions from members? You seem to know something.

Lung'afa: Its called having confidence. But you see, this year we learning. Next year we act.

There are programs we may undertake, and that is why AGM is crucial. And the programs/projects will bear results. Or that is the expectation.

Come expectant

Evans Muhali: I just asked because in my mind I thought this was the forum to brainstorm on your ideas before the AGM so that we get to the meeting on the same page as committee members. There's nothing better than providing a United front as a committee as opposed to coming to a meeting only to realize that you are hearing things for the first time and where as members would be expecting leadership from the committee members, you find yourself asking questions instead of giving guidelines. Anyway, let's wait for the AGM then.

Fanuel Igunza: you see pple were insisting to meet face to face before they commit by registering.....sasa hii ya kumeet by contributing 1000/= imekuwa ngori....so wea a we heading people?
