The struggle with many a rigid Logooli cultural practices

The Logooli community is one of the deeply cultured societies – with near everything supposed to have been done as per custom – to allow another custom to follow. One example is that for a mature man (with a child or more) to be buried, there must be a house structure at home. Another is that a boy must be circumcised and nursed in father land. If maternal family decides to, the boy will have a hard time reconnecting with father people - a dent on his masculinity. There were two children who got burnt to death in a house in Nairobi. The single mother had left for night work. Elders were told that one of the children was Logooli. The other, the woman had sired with someone else. The Logooli family wanted to burry their little one and long discussed the do’s and don’ts. Of a man who died childless and the grave was placed as if he had died as a man with children. It should have been dug on the sides, the grave. A real thorn should have been thrust in his buttocks, his name go...

You have answered me, I rest my case.

Evans Muhali: The way thungs stand... I think this occasion on 30th should be a launching pad for this group. Invite all Kamnaras for the launch of Group. If we call it a AGM, we only have 19 paid up members. The rest might shy away from attending simply because they have not paid for membership. Secondly, Metrine has said only 6 members have paid for the event which means many of us in the organising committee, 19 people, have not paid... almost two weeks to the event. We don't even have an agenda for the meeting. A campaign needs to be started on the main Wall inviting them to the launching of the group and then use the occasion to sell our agenda for the group to those who'll heed our call and then start a serious recruitment drive. We need to come up with the agenda here. We need to act fast.

Lung'afa:. There was this thought and it would not auger well as I came to learn.

One, there are other Saniaga associations. We not less better. Two, we want strategic people to attend, not 'every one'. Three, we not splitting ground, there have before existed saniaga groupings. Importantly, we meeting to find focuse that would see us push saniaga agenda high.

That even if only 19 people came, those registered, it shall still be a good show!

Kibisu Joash: The more people we are the better we define our agenda economically and socially

Evans Muhali: You've answered my question. I rest my case

Lung'afa: As per our capacity, we shall do slow jamms at the moment. In the near future, sava sava!

Lung'afa: Dad Ndanyi has a problem with his phone. But he shall be informed of this discussion come morning.
