Heavy responsibilities for elder aunt among the Logooli

With Seenge Fonesi. She is the elder grand daughter of Isagi and elder daughter of Amugasya. She is often present in functions involving the family of Amugasya. Pic taken on 18/4/2024. The elder sister soon becomes the elder aunt. It is this “seenge munene” (elder aunt) tag that she is tied to many cultural responsibilities – back home. To her marital family she may appear as any other woman, but she is not so in the eyes of her people. Marriage does not steal her away as it would happen with other daughters of the old man. To her, as days go and the old man and woman of the estate are dependents, she becomes increasingly present.  Her brothers also need her for almost all traditional markings. They are marrying, she needs to welcome the new wife. They are giving birth, she needs to come to midwife or “bless” the new born. They are paying dowry she needs to lead the women delegate. There is a conflict she needs to come for a hearing.  And many others. Traditions does not expect her to

There is a lot of stuff going back to 2014 I think but I have a challenge accessing the relevant info...I won't manage to read everything. Since there will continue to be new members can there be a summary introduction for all new joiners? 2. Objective #1.1 on the constitution is to sustain a sense of belonging among members...how will this be done?is there a meeting?...it is hard for me to feel I belong/contribute when I barely know people in the group or its objectives. 3.Objective #1.3 cooperate n assist projects, undertake capital investment programs that will assist better lives of all. So when we are being asked to contribute 500for membership and 1000 for investment, what investment is it...shouldnt it be we have the business plan in place first,costs/risks/benefits and then call for funding? And how will I benefit from my 1000? Coz for me I would want to be a member just for belonging not investment since it seems there is no clarity on what investment is to be done... 3. Mambo ya pesa ni ngumu...where r the checks n balances regarding the funds? How come the account isn't open if there are officials already? Statements? 4. I had asked what happened to the previous office and what mistakes led to the decline of the group previously, before this new boost of energy? 5.on communicating in maragoli, for a person who cannot understand it, saying that all people to use it to communicate will just make things harder...I may be the only one who doesn't understand and if so let me know so I can perhaps consider my options. 6. Had it been communicated and agreed that discussions in this watsapp group forum are to be copy/pasted on the net? I need clarity on this as well. Thanks 27/09/2017, 2:12 pm - Lung'afa Igunza: πŸ€”. May the gods descend. It is getting hotter. In my small way I will try to answer. Their attempts to try get some little info are always met with harsh and guarded sentiments from some of the 4-5pple. We need a sober, tolerant person to just handle communication. All of us are respectable people. 27/09/2017, 2:39 pm - Victoria Ndanyi: The chairman does well and Metrine. 27/09/2017, 2:39 pm - Ndanyi Saniaga: Relax guys, the good thing is you want to know, that's the starting point, Patty, the ball is in your court!!πŸ€“πŸ€“ 27/09/2017, 2:39 pm - Victoria Ndanyi: Chairman, I don't think Patty is better placed to handle. 27/09/2017, 2:40 pm - Bensolo Ndanyi: He is relax 27/09/2017, 2:41 pm - Victoria Ndanyi: I know what I'm putting across 27/09/2017, 2:43 pm - Bensolo Ndanyi: Great people are not learned look at someone like Ben Carson he is a good example 27/09/2017, 2:44 pm - Selma Nolega: Huh? 27/09/2017, 2:45 pm - Victoria Ndanyi: You seem to have a personal agenda. This is diverting issues. 27/09/2017, 2:45 pm - ‪+254 733 918100‬: 1. Most of the information on membership and the Constitution has been explained by Patty. 2. The matter concerning investment is what I don't understand very well, as Selma has explained. 3. Also maybe wherever a new member joins some of this information can be put across 4. And if you are adding a member, you could also explain to them what is going on. 27/09/2017, 2:45 pm - Ndanyi Saniaga: Give him time , am meeting him on Friday, will instruct him on how to pass the info 27/09/2017, 2:46 pm - Victoria Ndanyi: πŸ‘πŸ‘ 27/09/2017, 2:46 pm - Selma Nolega: Great...thanks chairman 27/09/2017, 2:50 pm - ‪+254 733 918100‬: Cool 27/09/2017, 2:51 pm - Lung'afa Igunza: First, objectives, mission and vision are with the constitution. Not at the blog. The blog has been my research tool since 2014. And it is now a point to archive what will be later useful. It may therefore not have all info on one page but in several pages separated by time. 2. Unless you do not understand or you've double understood what sustaining sense of belonging is. -If you can't contribute because we have not had a collective meeting, the constitution provides that our first AGM will happen at end year. If you will wait till then for you to register, well and good. But how would you have an AGM to what you haven't officialised? - It is just time before you knew all of us. It would not be different from now. In fact most of the active people here are introverts when you meet them. Me one. 3. An investment is what we shall settle upon once some amount of money has been gathered. One of the things that AGM may highlight would be business plans, future doings. It would be good if by then some money would be in and members would have known how they are in resource mobilisation and such. - Not willing to contribute for investments means you are not for saniaga spirit of love and cooperation. - Who but you and us need to brainstorm on investments? No one has yet channelled the way forward for the group. Take the opportunity to turn the questions into suggestions. 3. (you repeated 3). The bank account hasn't yet been opened. As the certificate is received we have it as our next item. That does not mean any excuse of sending money should be nourished. Our treasure, by the trust we need to have, can receive and disburse funds in a manner that is open. 4. About the previous office, I hold no remembrance. I understand that in 80's, when the government disbanded ethnic unifications, it could have lead to it. A historian would guess other issues like lack of motivation, individual disagreements... etc. I leave this to those who can light it. 5. We encourage people to communicate in mother tongue. It is one of the heritage factors that have pulled us here together. If one finds it difficult, it should rather be a challenge to learn than a reason to feel out. 6. About having these discussions posted to the blog is as important as the future beneficiaries would study. The archives would show how we moved from point to point. We would, if we take the right path, come to appreciate it. Shame is in failing, emptiness and whining for none would want that 'preserved'. Yet it is part and parcel of the present. However, if one does not wish to be named, the Character can be Anonymous. Haha. Fifty years from now, to have acted Anonymous, would be the greatest shame to the then generation. Having tried to explain, I may have not exhausted or been on point. That would call for more discussions which are welcomed. Thank you too. 27/09/2017, 2:58 pm - Ndanyi Madete: Try ignorance. After I joined the group we did zimbaka for a bit then of course being Saniagas proper the idea to solidify the group by having members register came up. We all emailed Lung'afa our ID copies and he and Metrine volunteered to go get us registered.I believe Saniaga CBO is fully registered under law. Next came the issue of registration fee, which I believe is necessary for commitment purposes. Then the 1k for investment and the tisho part. I have not paid yet but intend to do so. Perhaps what new members want to know is:- 1.What doea the registration fee do?Sit in the account?Cater for admin costs?Who is accountable for how the money will be used? 2.The T-shirts-is it part of the group? As in if I buy the t-shirt,what ammount if the mark up goes back to Saniaga group? If it is just a venture to promote a saniaga businessperson can that be made clear as well? 3.The 1k for investment, what is it going to be doing btwn now and the AGM when we meet?Sitting in the bank? Lastly,is paying of all the funds an ongoing process or there is a deadline? Personally I would like to request to do all the payments on the actual AGM day if there is no urgent use for the money. Once everyone meets it is easier to do financial commitments.Let us brainstorm on ideas for investment in the meantime. Otherwise this is a very good initiative. I am an Accountant currently working in Mumias and would not mind meeting new friends from around. Equally, let us show commitment. Cause it is easier to say than to do. It will dawn on us later that we spent too much talking, arguing, mistrusting and achieved little. That shouldn't be. When a disagreement is in a family, people do not leave. Where to? Is there another home? You will remain a saniaga. Stay and beat the path together. I am sorry to say that some of us may have rediscovered they are 'saniaga' the moment they were added having little childhood knowledge of culture and such. My prayer is that we develop the interest that it surpuses the projects and initiatives we may undertake. Importantly we are on track just that we slightly disagree. Personally I shall still pursue courses that not only put us together but foster our heritage. It is not necessary they be money related- for it seems we conflict there. May we keep talking, shouldn't we? 27/09/2017, 8:18 pm - Fanuel Saniaga: This forum/family should be built on three pillars 1.social 2.economic 3.political. We want to be a force to reckon with. A family that will motivate, nurture and develop us. We should not be selfish because one may think the other will benefit. Lets start this thing and make it work for our own benefit. 27/09/2017, 8:23 pm - Bensolo Ndanyi: There is a saying that say *the more excuses you make the less money you earn 27/09/2017, 8:23 pm - Bensolo Ndanyi: There is a saying that say *the more excuses you make the less money you make* 27/09/2017, 8:30 pm - Neccy Flossy: Saniaga is a doubting Tomas. My opinion would be we do not have to invent the wheel esp matters investments.Let people meet, register formally. We could start with a venture as simple as table-banking and we could graduate to other things with time. Once we gain momentum hata saniaga biz people can vend their goods/services during meet-ups. That would be perfect timing to sell branded saniaga merchandise like tee's too. 27/09/2017, 8:48 pm - Govedi Muzami: Good one broπŸ‘πŸΏ. That's why we are brainstorming. Let's own the process and every one is equal here. Let's not sit on the sides then throw spanners in the works when we get to the forming process. 27/09/2017, 9:00 pm - Mudengani Kisia: Ati Ben Carson not learned. Did I hear you right! I use both my 'elos' and 'aras' properly as it should and am ver careful at using. We have both consonants in the language. I came (born) from properly L'logooli speakers on both sides L'logooli Ulwange no lunifu. Am very frustrated when I see someone writing Rora orororo rurara rura 😳ni lutaveye... Lolo olololo lulala lula lololi lulu na malulu. Please dont use those 'aras' without a thot first. It make Lulogooli lufana runyarara! We dont want fake language becoz thats how you want it. Can we stop that please. Otherwise there is no purpose saying rurogori for those trying hard to write and speak it.
