The struggle with many a rigid Logooli cultural practices

The Logooli community is one of the deeply cultured societies – with near everything supposed to have been done as per custom – to allow another custom to follow. One example is that for a mature man (with a child or more) to be buried, there must be a house structure at home. Another is that a boy must be circumcised and nursed in father land. If maternal family decides to, the boy will have a hard time reconnecting with father people - a dent on his masculinity. There were two children who got burnt to death in a house in Nairobi. The single mother had left for night work. Elders were told that one of the children was Logooli. The other, the woman had sired with someone else. The Logooli family wanted to burry their little one and long discussed the do’s and don’ts. Of a man who died childless and the grave was placed as if he had died as a man with children. It should have been dug on the sides, the grave. A real thorn should have been thrust in his buttocks, his name go...

Three months now

HELLO Family, today 8-10-2017 marks three months of our association on
this forum. The group started on 8-7-2017.

We have been able to come together, link and share as a family, which
was and is still the primary purpose of this group. Thanks is to all
who added people, who have shown love to the group and who will keep
reliable to the family. Every one is equally valued, respected and
expected to use his/her abilities in propelling us ahead.

Moving forward, it was seen best to have the forum register as a
formal organisation that would officially champion the interests of
the group, which was registered as Saniaga CBO. Members committed
themselves to registration. And only nineteen have registered, this
day as we mark three months.

Much as we call for everyone's participation, we insist on commitment.
Suggestively, we are going to brainstorm on how to engage the
committed members in moving Saniaga ahead even as we wait for more to
register. (a separate WhatsApp Group (and text messaging) that shall
strictly channel Saniaga Processes). It is in this manner that we
shall not have a month more stagnant. This primary forum will remain
the brooder place, adding members, brainstorming, associating and all
that we are requested to participate in.

Now you are updated as we continue to celebrate our Heritage.

May you have an Isaji (Isagi) day, won't you?
